The Government Should Allow Student Athletes To Get Paid

  Lieutenant Governor of California Gavin Newsom signed into law a measure that allows players to receive endorsement deals, despite the National Collegiate Athletic Assn. calling the move unconstitutional. I believe that other states should follow in his path. Student athletes are constantly getting exploited by the school to profit. The argument is always that student athletes are compensated with school tuition being paid for. Yet the amount of effort and profit the schools are making from games and coverage is enormous amount. I am not proposing the schools pay the athlete but instead allow major companies to endorse them. Companies such as Nike, Adidias, and the list goes on; are always looking for the next player going to the pro athlete level. Allowing these companies to attach the name will not only benefit the school but also the player. Students need to be able to receive a little bit of income from the amount of time they put in to perfecting their craft.  C...

Death To Capital Punishment.

I believe the United States should stop the use of capital punishment. According to  PBS  "The first death sentence historically recorded occurred in 16th Century BC Egypt where the wrongdoer, a member of the nobility, was accused of magic and ordered to take his own life. During this period non-nobility was usually killed with an ax." The Human race regardless of ethnicity or beliefs has evolved from the primitive thought we once had. We should change our punishment system to follow how civilized humanity has become. Even for such vile crimes like murder. What would be worse for a criminal then life without a chance of freedom? Not to mention the cost of how much it takes to support the death penalty. The California Legislative Analyst's office estimates that California would save $150 million a year if it replaced the death penalty with a sentence of life without parole. That is California alone imagines how much the United States could save and put towards school, road...

While I was reading " Paid Maternity Leave for both Parents " I did agree with a lot of the statements made. The author made a great point when stating " According to the World Health Organization, the minimum amount of time a woman needs to fully recover from giving birth is 16 weeks." Which is a good argument, and how are you going to allow a mother who has not fully recovered back to the job. While I believe it would be amazing to give the mother a full paycheck at the end of the day the company still has to make money and now you are paying an employee who is not working at all and contributing. There are always going to be that issue. while the military allows mothers who are pregnant and servicing to still receive there full paycheck. So there are always ways to help the mother.
